Happy new year! It’s a balmy 74 degrees on a sunny January afternoon in Dallas, Texas, and the economy is “supposedly” in a recession.  There are several bad news stories in the news but I cannot help but feel a glint of optimism. I talked to a couple of our clients this week and…both work for companies that are optimistic in the face of the gloom-and-doom predictions about a bad economy. These companies are planning to go to tradeshows in the next couple of months – and while they realize there are going to be fewer prospects attending, they are focusing on marketing objectives. They are also facing the prospect of lesser competition – because fewer competitors will be exhibiting. One of them is considering a pre-show mailing to target customers and bring them to their booth. The other is focused on “eco-friendly or green promotions” – and plan to highlight their “caring” aspect of their customer service.  Flat World Design is helping both companies achieve their promotional marketing objectives.
Another client is planning to go on a hiring spree this year and is preparing welcome gifts for their new employees. We are coming up with some cool ideas to make them feel welcome, and be part of the “team.”
